The Model: Analyze

Here are some questions to ask before jumping into analysis.

  • Has all the data been returned?
  • Are there already methods in place for conducting analysis?
  • How big is the data to be analyzed?
  • What type of analysis is needed?
  • What are the expected outputs?
  • How should the insights be delivered?
  • Who is the primary audience for the insights?

Digging Deeper

Analysis is a critical function in the ROAMER Model, and it is something that should be done on a continuous basis. New information will emerge during the course of research and observation, and when you have built something and evaluated it, there will be new data about its usage and/or opportunities for improvement.

In addition to formal analysis of raw data from surveys, analytics, and observations, incoming data should also be purposefully evaluated to refine the understanding of the challenge being worked on, as well as refining the understanding of how any changes being made are affecting the humans who are the focus of the new or improved solution.
